Len Earl Ackland (born 1944) is a professor at the University of Colorado and co-director of the Center for Environmental Journalism.〔http://www.colorado.edu/journalism/faculty/bios/ackland.html〕 He graduated from the University of Colorado at Boulder with a bachelor's degree in history, and from the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies. He was a freelance writer during the Vietnam War. He was a reporter for the ''Chicago Tribune'' and the ''Des Moines Register''.
